AI assistant — how it works

The AI assistant searches your documents and articles to answer your questions, with sources cited. It is optional, off by default, and runs on our own servers — no data is sent to a third-party service.

What it does

You ask a question in plain language. The assistant searches for the most relevant passages in your documents and knowledge base, then writes an answer citing the articles or documents used — you can always trace it back to the source.

  • Searches the documents and articles in your space, not the internet.
  • Answers are written with sources cited, never asserted without evidence.
  • Does not replace human review for important decisions.

Your data stays with us

The search-and-generation engine is self-hosted on our own servers, within the European Union. No question or document excerpt is ever sent to a third-party service (no ChatGPT, Gemini or other external API).

  • Questions and answers are kept for 90 days, then automatically deleted.
  • Strict separation per company, like the rest of WeDoc.
Your document content may include personal data about your own clients or contacts. You remain the controller for that processing; WeDoc acts as processor, in accordance with the DPA.

Activation and access

  • Off by default: an administrator of your company must enable it in settings.
  • Usage is metered in tokens, pooled per company — see the Pricing section of the homepage.
  • Available to licensed members of your space, not to external people you have sign documents.

Good to know

Like any text-generation system, the assistant can make mistakes or misread a question. Always check the cited sources before relying on an answer for an important decision.
