🔌 WeDoc Connect

Your browser is not allowed to reach the card reader. WeDoc Connect is a small program to run on the computer where the reader is plugged in: it bridges WeDoc and your identity card, to read your identity data or sign a document — with no signing software to install.

Before you start

Windows 10 or 11 · a card reader plugged in, card inserted.
Your country's official middleware — required, and your card must carry a signing certificate. WeDoc Connect detects the installed middleware.

Many identity cards carry no signing certificate (France, the Netherlands, Germany by default): signing with the card is then impossible — use the code received by email.

2 · Double-click the file

A window opens showing « Agent started » and the detected reader. Leave it open while you use WeDoc; close it when you are done. There is no command to type and nothing is installed on your computer.

On first launch Windows may show « Windows protected your PC »: click More info then Run anyway. That message appears for any unsigned program — the fingerprint published above lets you check your file is ours.

3 · Check everything works

From this computer, test the connection — no data is sent, the page simply queries the agent on your machine.

Security and privacy

The agent only listens on your machine (127.0.0.1) and only accepts WeDoc sites.
Your PIN is entered in a Windows dialog opened by the agent: never in the browser and never sent to WeDoc — it only goes to your card.
To sign, the document never leaves our servers: your card only signs a digest, and the private key never leaves the card.
The agent writes no files, keeps no data and stops when closed.
The source code is published: you can check what the program does before running it.

Troubleshooting

The window closes immediately: An agent is probably already running: look for the « WeDoc Connect » window already open.
« No card reader detected »: Plug the reader in, then start the operation again from WeDoc. Check that it appears in the Windows Device Manager.
« Card not recognised »: Outside Belgium, install your country's official middleware, then restart WeDoc Connect: it detects it on startup and shows it in its window.
« Wrong PIN — N attempt(s) left »: After three mistakes the card locks and must be unlocked with the PUK code at your local authority. If in doubt, stop and check your code.
